It is targeted towards application and there it excels. I have not seen any other book on this topic that so effectively presents a level-headed applied approach that keeps the basic assumptions of the models firmly in sight.
What tool fits when is nicely discussed.

(More customer reviews)There's nothing really wrong with "The Unemployed Millionaire" per se...it's just that's there's absolutely nothing new about it either.
As a long time student of personal development, I've read and listened to almost all of the "gurus" such as Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins, Zig Ziglar, Brian Tracy et alia...and this is an exact rehash of all of their stuff. (in some cases almost word for word!!)
To add insult to injury it's misleading. When I clicked on an ad for Mr Morris' book he made a big hue and cry about Goal Setting not working..."Goal Setting is for Losers - Every goal setting technique you've ever read about actually sets you up for FAILURE! Most people set goal after goal, with grand ambitions, only to fall short time and again... leaving them frustrated and ready give up. (When you read this chapter, you'll never have that problem again"
That sounded fresh...but guess what...the chapter is all about goal setting...exactly the same way it's always been done (actually not as good as some versions I've seen)...write your goal down, give it a time of completion, write it in the present tense etc...same old same old.
Trust me, if you've read any of Zig's, Brian Tracys' or the slew of other personal development books out there, you've already read this one so do yourself a favour and save your money.
PS: At least when Tony Robbins plagiarized every single personal development book under the sun he re-wrote it in his own voice so it appeared as if the ideas were his.

The book makes a big promise with, "The Complete Handbook for Launching a Company for Less," and "$100,000 in savings," but if you stick with the program, it works!
Obviously, it's impossible to create a comprehensive book of business best practices because every business has its own variables, but chapter by chapter, this book tackles everything you need to know - in order - for starting a business and growing it successfully.
She breaks down even the most complicated topics - like financing a business with loans or with investors - in plain English and gives step-by-step advice to maximize your upside and minimize the risk of starting a business. This book definitely explores "How to Finance a Startup" in a lot more detail than any other book I've come across. She has 14 sources beyond the normal VCs, angel investors, and SBA loans - and shows how to structure sweat equity with vendors and partners, etc.
I wish everything in life came with this kind of manual. This is the kind of reality-based textbook that university entrepreneurship programs should be using.
Every chapter begins with strategy, then breaks down tactics, then specific recommendations for templates, tools, software, and websites. You can tell that the author has actually used the tools because she even makes recommendations on how to get the most out of them - and how to get a deal.
Every chapter contains do-it-yourself guides - and that's where a lot of the savings comes in. The Branding, Marketing, PR, and Advertising chapters are so much fun! Brainstorming a brand and names for your business, templates for creating your own press releases - all very helpful.
Even for small business owners who have been in business for years, this book is a great quick reference guide for growing a business - tackling sales and revenue growth.

His eleven Getting Started points (Decide how much you can save and invest, Master the terms, Understand the difference between being an active and passive investor, etc.) set the tone for the entire book. He assumes you have never invested on-line and then shows you exactly how to do it. Not only does he explain how to invest at your computer but he also explains basic terminology (selling stock short, buying a call in options, shareholders' equity, etc.) so that you are never lost in his explanations. Thankfully, he reserves the deeper topics (Capital-gain distribution nightmare, stock splits, etc.) for the gray sidebars. The hundreds of internet addresses he provides are enough to fill anyone's bookmarks. This is the kind of book you read with your laptop so that you can check out the references and bookmark those which have meaning to you.

The Web Startup Success Guide (Books for Professionals by Professionals) Review

The book is not only badly written, it does not hardly any useful content either. Everything said here should be obvious to any person who has lived for any time near any web business. The author has unnecessarily made the book fat by having many long interviews with his friends - most of them add little to the content .
If you find this book useful - you should ask if you are the right person to run a business and perhaps spend sometime learning "basic business stuff" first.
Here is my recap of content:
* Chapter 1: Introduction: Funding a web startup today is easier than ever and many options exist including self-funding (duh!!)
* Chapter 2: Create value. There is no shortage of just "ideas" (duh, again !!)
* Chapter 3 & 4: There are lot of tools available to you like SaaS platforms, open source cms and local meetup groups (duh, duh ,duh !!)
* Chapter 5 is about raising money. It is filled with meaningless generalizations ("raising money is like falling in love") - none of them of much use.
* Chapter 6 is about social media. More generic stuff. Nothing said here is so remarkable that you cannot find it online - just google "how to market on social media" and just read the top 5 links. you will be WAY AHEAD of this book.
* Chapter 7 - The summary is - You need to be clear about what your USP is (duh !!)
* Chapter 8 - A long chapter on GTD methodology. There is no reason for it to be in this book. If GTD is your way, read a book on GTD.
* Chapter 9 - a needlessly long chapter about author's recommendation of 6 blogs to read.
Throw this book in fireplace - that will be more useful.

So here's my concise re-review: The authour spends far too much time plugging his own web sites and software than giving deep suggestions and information. This book may be ok for novices w/ AdSense: a few good tidbits here and there, but frankly, you can get far better, far more reliable and far more UNBIASED information from Google's AdSense homepage and the myriad blogs etc. on AdSense. I'm very suprised that the overall feedback for this book was as high as it is! Save yourself the money, go to the source at Google directly.

(More customer reviews)I enjoyed reading this book. I purchased it from Amazon because Jim Cockrum endorsed it in his newsletter (which is how I heard of it). The book basically outlines step by step how to set up an information product business online. The first chapter explains why this business model is ideal for most people, due to low overhead and the almost bottomless demand for information products online. Chapter 2 suggests ways to build a profitable infoproduct quickly. I think they should have explained the "profitable" side of things a bit more explicitly. For example, while many people might have collections of recipes at home they think they could sell online, most people searching for recipes online are searching for FREE information, not an ebook they have to pay for. Ideally, you should create an infoproduct for a market where infoproducts are already selling well. Scanning the categories of products on Clickbank.com is a good way to get ideas for products of your own. If you aren't sure what to create, think about the products that people are already selling on Clickbank, and then come up with a complementary or supplemental product that would be a logical "upsell" to the audience for those products. This is the most important decision you will make, and determines if your product will sell, more than any other factor. Beyond that the book outlines the different content formats you can choose to make, how to set up a website, get traffic and turn your "prospects into buyers." I learned the most from chapter 6, and I think that chapter alone is worth the price of this book. While it doesn't explicitly teach you how to write a sales letter it tells you some important things to consider when setting up your sales page. I think a few sales letter examples and a simple template would have enhanced this chapter a lot, especially for beginners who are new to information marketing online. A separate chapter on outsourcing would have been helpful also. My thoughts are you should probably write rough drafts of your ebook and sales page and then outsource the rewrites to someone more experienced to "clean them up" for you. I prefer vWorker for all my outsourcing, since I have the option to pay for deliverables only, rather than for time. It seems to result in faster turnaround, and since the funds are escrowed, I don't have to release them until I am completely happy with the end product. For beginners, I also recommend using e-Junkie rather than Clickbank or 1shoppingcart. With e-junkie you get payment processing, but they also create expiring download links automatically and I believe they also host your actual product files, so you don't have to create any web pages yourself other than just the sales letter page, with the order button connecting to your e-junkie checkout. That saves time, and also eliminates some of the learning curve with having to create web pages and learning to FTP your files to a download page, as well as not having to learn to install a script to create expiring download links yourself. If you're a beginner and you don't know much about web design you should probably try out Blinkweb's hosting - you get a free domain name and a wysiwyg editor that includes simple sales page templates that are super easy to use, and are designed specifically for information marketers. All you have to do at that point is upload an image of an "add to cart" button and link it to your e-junkie account for checkout. e-Junkie does the rest. If you don't like paying $14.99 a month for hosting and you don't mind the learning curve, then google "Chris Farrell" and sign up for his free "Success Grenade" videos that walk you through web page setup step by step. You'll learn how to FTP your web site, create download and squeeze pages, upload files to your site's hosting account and more. I think Blinkweb + e-Junkie would save you more time and let you get your business up and running a lot faster, but if you don't mind a few months extra work and study, you can learn to do it the "hard way" through Chris Farrell's video series. Overall, "The Six-Figure Second Income" has a lot of good ideas and recommendations, even though I disagree with some of the recommendations in chapter 4, since they aren't very beginner-friendly, and can stymie someone for months before they can get an actual product online. Even if you start with only Blinkweb for hosting/web design, e-Junkie for shopping cart/payment processing, and the basic Aweber account for managing your customer list, it will cost under $40 a month to get going, and takes a lot of the technical stuff off your plate.

I'm fairly new to the adsense topic yet found nothing new; It felt like a rehash of other people's writings and posts. Lots of stream of conscious writing and general lack of organization. There were quite a few typos, several repeated sections, and the book seemed printed in a "one-off" style (print as purchased). Although it did cover the standard fare, unless this is the only access you have to adsense information, save your time and save your money. I might give it 2 stars but there needs to be some truthful balance to the previous 5-star ratings.

The endless tales of stock market success could not possibly be true. Well, they might be, but there would have to be an almost equal supply of purchases that did not fare so well. Nobody could have the batting average this woman implies.
Basically, she explains, over and over again, how she caught wind of a trend (brilliantly ignoring all the fads and looking only at real trends), found a stock that could profit from the trend, bought it low, then sold it high. Presto! Easy as that. She even demonstrates a worksheet that takes us into her thought process. She writes "lower interest rates," then makes deductions from there on the impacts to various industries, such as housing and mortgage finance companies and makers of home fixtures. Incredibly, her ability to predict what stocks will benefit from low interest rates includes companies that sell all manner of home renovation equipment, but she presciently manages to exclude the giant home reno stores like Home Depot and Lowe's (which of course have not performed well over the past few years).
There is simply no way anyone could have made as many brilliant forecasts as this woman claims (at least not without making a commensurate number of not-so-brilliant forecasts). While her concept of looking for trends and trying to logically deduce the extent of the trend and any secondary and tertiary effects is a great idea, all the difficulties inherent in doing such analysis is completely ignored.
