Excel Annoyances: How to Fix the Most Annoying Things about Your Favorite Spreadsheet Review

Excel Annoyances: How to Fix the Most Annoying Things about Your Favorite Spreadsheet

This is a well organized and written set of useful hints and pointers for Excel. They range from solutions to difficult data analysis issues, to tips about graphing, pivot tables, and importing data from various formats, notably XML.
The book is organized into chapters around central Excel themes; editing, formulas, formatting, charting, etc. Each chapter has a set of annoyances with a description and a solution. These annoyances are sometimes bugs, and sometimes just difficult issues that reasonably advanced users will run into where the help is either insufficient or poorly written. The fixes are generally fairly short and contained within the bounds of Excel, though the book does point to external sites and software where appropriate.
Definitely a must have for the power Excel user.

Investing Online For Dummies Review

The author starts out by building confidence in investing on-line. His eleven Getting Started points (Decide how much you can save and invest, Master the terms, Understand the difference between being an active and passive investor, etc.) set the tone for the entire book. He assumes you have never invested on-line and then shows you exactly how to do it. Not only does he explain how to invest at your computer but he also explains basic terminology (selling stock short, buying a call in options, shareholders' equity, etc.) so that you are never lost in his explanations. Thankfully, he reserves the deeper topics (Capital-gain distribution nightmare, stock splits, etc.) for the gray sidebars. The hundreds of internet addresses he provides are enough to fill anyone's bookmarks. This is the kind of book you read with your laptop so that you can check out the references and bookmark those which have meaning to you.

We all seek the answer to the magical question: Can I truly be debt free? Living in a billion dollar debt society, you're probably thinking, "Yeah, right!" I, too, was a skeptic . . . until I read Dynamic Diva Dollars. This book speaks to the yearning in everyone to seek financial freedom. From broke single-parent to wealthy diva herself, Bomani teaches us to challenge our mindset about spending, be honest about our financial predicament, commit to a debt free lifestyle, and finally, quickly build wealth. She even shares some of her personal financial secrets, from accumulating real estate to using a loan to family member as a tax deduction.
Not only is Dynamic Diva Dollars filled with helpful information to help you crawl out of your debt funk, the author also equips us with a galore of web tools to assist us in our wealth journey. I'm inspired . . . but I have one lingering question: what about student loan debt? Bomani discusses credit card debt; however, today's college generation's school debt sometimes equals that of a first home loan, a major rising crisis hardly touched by financial experts. I'm interested in reading her words of wisdom in regards to this chilling trend.
Regardless of the type of debt you've accumulated, being financially free should be every DIVA's goal! With Bomani's guide in your purse, you've taken the first step to becoming a wealthy Dynamic Diva. I know I have--and I'm looking forward to early retirement!

QuickBooks 2007 On Demand Review

I am going to presume (I know that's not very smart, but I'm going to do it anyway) that you're already decided on Quickbooks software. So the reason you're reading this book review is to determine if you want to buy this book to learn what to do with it.
This book is pare of Que's 'On Demand' series of books. It's a visual quick reference guide that uses a task oriented philosophy to show/describe how to do things in Quickbooks. Specifically, say you want to Schedule a Recurring Transaction, that is, a bill that needs to be paid the tenth of every month for the same amount. You can look up: Recurring Transactions or Scheduled Transactions in the index or Scheduling Recurring Transactions in the Table of Contents. All of these lead you to page 189. Page 189 is printed with two columns. The left hand column has a set of instructions on how to do the task. The right hand column has pictures of what the screen should look like as you follow the instructions.
So you read through the whole book quickly, learning at least the basic idea of what you can do. Get Quickbooks installed (page 2), register it (page 5), and work you way through the first couple of chapters. Then skip around to get what you want done, as you decide to implement those features.
It's a pretty handy way to learn a software system.

The Sharing Solution: How to Save Money, Simplify Your Life & Build Community Review

The Sharing Solution: How to Save Money, Simplify Your Life and Build Community
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A couple years ago I went fishing with a group of girls in Lareto, Mexico. It was a vacation away from both the work and the men in our lives. We were five and we stayed in a cheap motel by the waterfront and we went out in small boats early in the morning and fished the day away. At night we pooled our catch and shared it with some of the locals, who managed to take what we'd caught and turn it into a veratible feast night after night.
And as the yellow sun faded from the sky, someone would get the extension cords, others would bring out the chairs from their homes as a couple men would bring out a television and fifteen or twenty people would sit outside in the evening's heat and watch. These people were poor. Sharing was a way of life for them. And you know, they seemed happy.
In the Sharing Solution, you'll learn that sharing is work. There is a certain amount of trust required and sometimes agreements need to be drawn up. But you will save money, however even if saving money isn't your goal, you'll make friends and we can never have enough of those.
There are four hundred or so pages on sharing in The Sharing Solution and they cover just about every aspect of just about anything you'd care to share, from ride sharing etiquette to running a co-op. The book is full of practical advice and though not everything here will apply to everyone, I think there is plenty here that anyone can use. If you want to save some money, make some friends and go a little green, give this book a look. You won't be disappointed.

I recently bought a Kindle copy of this book and just wanted to say just how much I enjoyed it. The basic premise was exactly what I have been thinking over the past couple of years and I set out a couple of years ago to teach myself all the skills I needed to make multiple income streams on the internet. I'm making some progress but I'd like to make more and faster. I have a few websites which don't make too much but I'm learning all the time.
If you really want a book that really provokes your thought processes then this is the one to do it.
