This books list many code examples, but it lacks in explanation. The examples are good for understanding what is possible in Android. The beginning the book has a good introduction chapter that can get you started in Android programming. But then it goes on wasting a lot of space with xml and code listings and not focusing on explaining the essentials. It is not a bad book but i miss a little more information on how to put everything together into a real working application. There is a chapter on best practices but it only gives very general information.
Before buying the book you might just download the examples from the book website first.
