The Online Millionaire is a how-to that zeroes in on this idea.
Serving up lessons on everything from eBay to building your own website author Amy Joyner backs up theory with stories from the front lines. Lacing each chapter with stories retold by online millionaires, Joyner's 101 approach (with sub-chapter headings like The Lowdown and How It Works) may not appeal to the Internet enthusiast, or anyone under the age of 16, but will be a breath of fresh air to the web-challenged. Joyner keeps it simple and paints with broad strokes . . . so for me - a member of the latter group, Millionaire helped break down the intimidating and self-imposed barriers I have towards the Internet. I couldn't build a website before reading this book and I probably won't anytime soon, but the curtain has been pulled and the mystery revealed.

Brown takes you through the entire process from getting started to choosing a software application right for you to how to market and promote your site. He explains the ins and outs of Affiliate Marketing on the Web in language anyone can understand, even if you're not smarter than a fifth grader.
Do you know the difference between residual and flashflood traffic techniques? How about pay per click as opposed to pay per lead? I didn't. However, after reading this book I certainly have been educated in the lingo associated with Affiliate Marketing. Brown also manages to take the guess work out of Google.
You don't have to be a web designer to apply the techniques, but if you're somewhat computer savvy it's beneficial. Brown doesn't present a get rich quick scheme, but instead delivers a sure fire way to get more traffic to your site and more money in your pocket. He doesn't lead you down the garden path and his book will definitely help you travel the road to success.

Unless you're looking for the most basic of introductions to online affiliate marketing and pay-per-click advertising, save your money. This book is so basic it can't even be called a primer. Fully half the book is used to describe how to sign up with affiliate programs and create an Adwords account. This book offers no guidance on researching profitable niches or keywords, doesn't even mention an "ad portfolio" or describe why you may (or may not) want to manage your ads with a portfolio approach, and gives the most simplistic formulas for measuring campaign performance. The most sophisticated advice it gives can be summed up in two sentences: "Don't set your daily budget too high; you may lose a lot of money quickly." and "Make sure your campaigns are bringing in more money than you are spending." The final chapter is called "Working At Home: Legal and Tax Requirements." It touches on "starting your own business" topics so lightly that the chapter would have been better left out.
