(More customer reviews)It is difficult for me to sit back and write a business plan. I am the kind of person who has an idea and just wants to run with it. Unfortunately, I have a hard time figuring out what specifics to include in my business plan.. Between the book (which explained exactly what I needed to know about target markets, SWOT analysis, legal structure, competition, marketing, etc.) and the downloadable financial spreadsheets which did all of the math and carried the numbers through to all of the projection sheets including the cash flow statement, balance sheet, and income statement. I was able to write a top-notch, professional-looking business plan to present to my potential investor and to the bank when I go to apply for a loan! I feel confident about my business plan and now have the tools in place to start my business. I felt it is really important to go through the process of writing a your own business plan so you can really get a good, clear, structured idea of what you're doing, how you need to do it, and why you're starting a business in the first place. My friend told me about business plan writing software that she purchased for $200 and how it was completely useless. Thank you Upstart Business Consulting Group!

I don't consider myself a business whiz, so I was a little intimidated in writing a business plan and starting a company. However, after reading the book I was much more comfortable. This book was a very easy read and was written in layman's terms. It was not filled with garbage to lengthen the book. It gave the information you need without any of the fluff. I learned so much that I could immediately put to use in my business. I have written my business plan and am very pleased with the results. I definitely recommend it.

(More customer reviews)I have been consulting new entrepreneurs for several years. The first and arguably most important advice I give is have my client sit down and write a business plan. If they cannot write a business plan, then they will never achieve success in there business. I have never found a concise book that details each business plan section until I bought this book. I highly encourage all my clients to buy this book (or another book from Upstart Business Consulting Group depending on my client's business) before they begin writing their plan. My clients who have used this (or another Upstart book) have consistently had well written business plans. It is clearly written, informative without being overly detailed and it walks the reader step-by-step through the business plan writing process. If you are new to writing a business plan you should have this book.

(More customer reviews)Today, I was very excited to receive the Upstart Business Consulting Group's 'create your own Dog Walking Company', ordered through Amazon.
However, I was also greatly disappointed upon reading this "book". Out of 112 pages, 20 are *completely blank*, and many more contain only a paragraph or a few lines. The text itself is riddled with typos; the information contained within isn't anything not easily found in any Marketing 101 textbook; and when one goes to save the downloaded "free business templates" that are supposedly one of the privileges of having purchased this book, one is asked for an "owner password" that is not in fact even provided to the reader.
This is one of the poorer experiences I've had in researching small business start-up/ dog walking & pet services.
I would not recommend this book to anyone.
