One of the authors, Dr. Daniel Oriesek, gave an excellent talk on this topic, at the E-Leader conference, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, www.g-casa.com. Paricipants raved about the book.
Topics covered: history of wargaming, business methodology, strategic relevance, application, testing, crisis response preparation, developing foresight, change management, education recruitment, plus many real-life case studies/scenarios.
Wargaming goes beyond the traditional case studies, strategic simulations, or team management. It puts one company against its competitors, and find the best solutions to survive/prosper. Business is like war. The war general must do everything possible to win the war, planning, collaboration, execution, and many more.
I would recommend this book to all MBA professors and students.

Industry consolidation, mergers, changes to business models, the emergence of new threats all require managers to understand highly complex situations, assess risk and opportunity and make informed decisions. How can senior managers do this effectively when so often they are wrestling with brand new scenarios or futures that they have not yet conceived? One of the emerging solutions is business wargaming.Daniel F. Oriesek and Jan Oliver Schwarz provide the first comprehensive look at wargaming as a business tool in a book that explores the anatomy and success factors of a typical wargame. The authors explain how and when wargaming can be used to test strategies, plan and prepare for crises, manage change or increase your organization's ability to anticipate and adapt for the future.Creating imaginative and credible scenarios and testing them against smart opponents who are eager to find holes and counter your strategy, allows you to learn about a plan or a new venture in the security of the conference room rather than learning the hard way when you go live.Business wargames are sophisticated but they are also very demanding in terms of time and resources."Business Wargaming: Securing Corporate Value" will enable you to assess the potential value of the technique for your own organization, to understand what you will be committing to and develop an informed business case and brief for working with the organization that will facilitate the game.

End-to-End Game Development: Creating Independent Serious Games and Simulations from Start to Finish Review

End-to-End Game Development: Creating Independent Serious Games and Simulations from Start to Finish

The way 'End-to-End Game Development: Creating Independent Serious Games and Simulations from Start to Finish' was written is simply not the way that I feel this book should have been undertaken. For subject matter such as this, an example project should have been devised, and the book should have gone through the steps to do exactly what the title says. Show the starting point of how an idea was created, and the steps it goes through to get from point A to point Z. Instead of doing this, the authors use a variety of examples throughout, with scattered content and scattered results.
This approach might work for talking about a programming language, but I really think it's haphazard way of doing things here.
I simply cannot recommend this book.
